About
the Artist Marius Janson is a
Professor of Management Science and Information Systems in the School of Business
Administration, and Fellow in the Center for International Studies, the University of
Missouri-St.Louis. He received his Master of Science (1977) and Ph.D. (1982) degree in
Qualitative Analysis and Management Information Systems from the University of Minnesota.
Professor Janson's primary research interest is the impact of
informatization on worklife. He is presently conducting a field study of a large Belgian
discount chain. The project, a collaborative effort with a faculty member of the
Katholieke Universiteit Brabant, uses Habermas' communicative action theory to investigate
and interpret the quality of worklife and the shifting power relationships between upper
management and company employees.
Professor Janson's other research interests include the role of
information technology in the emerging free market economies of Eastern European
countries, and the application of speech act theory to information analysis and knowledge
acquisition. He has presented his research at international conferences organized by the
International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and the Institute for
Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORS).
A Fellow in the Center for International Studies, Professor Janson
helped create a student exchange program between Hoge School Holland, Amsterdam, The
Netherlands and the University of Missouri-St.Louis. |
